Are you wanting to sew faster or more efficiently? Looking for techniques that will take your garment sewing to the next level? Then this is the class for you!
This class is about making the transition from beginner to expert sewer. It’s a matter of learning some simple techniques - how to prepare a pattern, how to improvise on it, learning about seam allowances, how to cut your fabric, implementing the garment production method, NO pins!, serging, when and how to sew from the inside, it’s all in the finishing details, and more. These techniques focus on garment making, but the basic techniques will improve your quilt construction as well.
You can choose the garment you wish to make (everybody will likely be working on something different) to use as a vehicle for learning the techniques that make your garments look like high-end-ready-to-wear. The class is not about fitting so I’m recommending you choose a pattern for something loose fitting - a shirt, a tunic top, a skirt, loose-fitting pants, etc. You can work with woven or knit although woven fabric is easier to control when you're new to these techniques.
This is a two day class Thursday Sept. 16 and Saturday Sept. 25 from 10:30 - 4. Supplies are not included in the class fee.
